My Everyday Teeth Whitening Routine

As y’all may know, Smile Brilliant is my go to teeth whitening brand. When I found out they had an electric toothbrush too, I was so excited! In the past I have had other electric toothbrushes, but I would just buy the cheapy ones at Target. I never thought I would loved a electric toothbrush as much as I love my Smile Brilliant toothbrush. The results between my cheap electric toothbrush and Smile Brilliant toothbrush were day and night… There are 5 different modes and there is even one specifically for teeth whitening (the other four modes are clean, massage, gum care, and sensitive).

To me, having a white smile makes me more confident! The fact that I was able to whiten my teeth every day just from brushing my teeth amazed me. My schedule is always super busy and I have very little downtime. Whitening my teeth wasn’t always at the top of list of things to do, but now, I can whiten my teeth by simply using my toothbrush. I know that you have probably heard that you need an electronic toothbrush everytime you go to the dentist. Trust me, I was a bit skeptical of how much of a difference it would make, but wow, I am so impressed with the results.

Because I loved my toothbrush so much, my sweet friends at Smile Brilliant gave me a coupon to give to all of y’all! This is an offer too good to pass up… To get my exclusive code for the cariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush, follow this link: https://www.smilebrilliant.com/gb/2521

How To Style Watches This Fall

It’s time to get back to business! With school starting, New York Fashion Week tomorrow, and other events this year, I need to ensure I’m on time (which is something I definitely struggle with) . To stay on schedule and look super chic I wear my Jord watch. The jewelry I wear is usually pretty simple, and this watch makes a statement yet is very sleek and simplistic. Jord watches are amazing because of the customization. They create a watch that fits perfectly to you wrist! You send in your measurements and they create a custom fit. You can even get your initials monogrammed, so of course I got “ECS”.

Another cool feature of the watch is that is it wooden. How awesome is that? This watch is unlike anything you have even seen! That is another reason why I love it, it’s one of a kind! The face of the watch I chose has an emerald green color and gold accents with a dark brown band. I have gotten so many compliments already!
Having a watch is a staple piece for your accessory collection. It is a great accessory for day to day activities or formal events. As I have had more job interviews, my watch has been the perfect accessory to complete my professional look. I also love wearing my emerald green watch to add a little extra color to my look. This watch with set you apart from the crowd and take your outfits to the next level!

Jord is offering a FREE watch to one lucky person who enters this contest: https://www.jordwatches.com/g/ecsanchez and everyone who enters will get 10% off a watch! The end of the contest is September 30th, so make sure to enter before it’s too late!

6 Shades of the Summer

Here are some 6 shades that are trending this summer, and how to style them. I am obsessed with these colors (especially yellow), and I have had so much fun incorporating more color into my outfits!IMG_9549.jpeg

Pink- Light pink and bubblegum pink are shades that you are going to want to have in your closet this summer. What’s great about this color is how subtle it is. It’s not too bold, but it will still make a statement. My favorite color to wear with light pink is sky blue (like the picture below). I just love this color combo!

IMG_9544.jpeg

Yellow- This is my personal favorite color this summer! Partially because I finally got my tan back (I literally have never been so pale in my life after moving to Boston). I have recently had a lot of luck finding cute yellow clothes at Forever 21. That is where I got both of these outfits! Instead of yellow being the main focus of your outfit, make it a pop of color! I love wearing yellow statement earrings to spruce up my outfit in an adventurous way (like I did with my outfit in the sky blue section). I usually pair yellow with black, blue, and sometimes red.

Red- Red is great for every season, but this summer particularly, I can’t stop buying red! Red is also a great accent color. If you don’t want to wear an overwhelming amount of red, add a pop of red with your shoes, lipstick, or accessories. Sometimes if I think my outfit is too boring, I’ll throw on my red pair of shoes or my red purse to make the outfit more fun! My favorite color to wear red with is black. You can never go wrong with black and red.

Sky Blue- This is another great accent color that looks great with black or red. I personally haven’t found many sky blue tops or dresses that I am absolutely obsessed with so I will usually wear this color as an accent color (like I did with this outfit). Or I will wear light blue jeans! Light wash jeans are great for the summer and look amazing with any of the colors in this post!

IMG_9548.jpeg

Army Green/Forest Green- Army green is another color that is amazing for all seasons. I cannot get enough things that are army green. This color especially looks great if you have more of an olive complexion. I always pair my army green clothes with black, white, and sometimes grey. This color is a staple piece you need have in your closet!

IMG_9543.jpeg

Lavender/purple- When I was 5, purple was the only color I would wear and now my school color is purple. Purple is a HARD color to find for clothing (I found this purple satin top at Boohoo). A great, more subtle shade of purple is lavender! This shade is easier to find and should at most of your favorite stores! If you’re feeling adventurous this summer, you should try this shade out!

IMG_9547.jpeg

I hope this post helped give you some inspiration for the summer!  I don’t know if you’re like me, but I am definitely guilty of wanting to wear black every single day. This summer, I have been trying to add a pop of color to my outfits more often! Remember, if you don’t want to buy a whole new summer wardrobe, just buy some colorful accessories or shoes to revamp your wardrobe!

From Austin to Boston: Year One

After one week of being home, I am finally able to write and reflect on my freshman year of college. I think it took me so long because I didn’t want to admit it was actually over. I knew I loved Boston when I visited as a high school student, but I never realized how much I would grow to love the city. I found just how much I loved Boston during my last week when I started bawling alone while on a walk because I realized I wasn’t going to be able to walk around The Commons in the summer. In such a short time, Boston became my home. I became immune to the sirens and construction. I became accustomed to using public transportation and walking everywhere. I became used to walking 10 minutes to go shopping. And I even became acclimated to the cold weather (even though I did miss the Texas sun). I still remember my first snow day when I sat in bed mesmerized by snowflakes and my roommates thought I was an idiot because they grew up in places where it snowed all the time. In Texas, we had snow days when there was a little “ice” on the road. I thought Boston culture was “wicked”. Get it, wicked? Like what people in Boston say. Anyways… I especially loved the Celtics fandom. There would be NBA players casually walking around my campus (and if you know me, you know I was in HEAVEN) because they would occasionally practice in our gym. I, unfortunately, did not get the Red Sox hype. Sorry not sorry, but baseball is the most boring sport to watch in my opinion. Sorry to all of you baseball players and lovers but I am definitely still a basketball girl. I also got to experience some fun concerts, like the love of my life Miguel, at the House of Blues. They were definitely not like Austin concerts but still so fun. But what made all of these memories amazing were the friends that I have met this past year.

IMG_6132.JPG

My first year of college was incredible. I have met the most AMAZING people that I know will be my lifelong friends. These beautiful human beings put up with my good and bad days and made sure to write down and video all the stupid crap I would say. I’m not joking, there’s a list and a long compilation video of it. But those videos alone could be a whole other blog post. First of all, I was so lucky to have the most amazing suite ever. Living with 7 other girls isn’t so bad when you live with some of the greatest people. Piano Row suite 1105 will never be forgotten. I’m going to miss the walking in on my suitemates Michelle and Quinn blasting Brockhampton and making music videos. Or peeping into Faith’s room for her never failing advice or for using her microwave because I was too cheap to buy one. I’m going to miss when Cacau and Juliette would play their Brazilian music before going out and we would all gather in the kitchen to catch up after our long weeks. Or when I could go to Britt to ask for outfit advice and then end up talking for hours about life. And of course, I will miss my roommate Maddie who put up with my craziness. She even made a “gold star chart” for me to reward me for doing good things (like cleaning my room) and punish me by taking stars away if I did something bad. You can ask Maddie more about that. I can think of 905 reasons why I love her, there are too many reasons to list. I am so lucky to have a friend like her, she deserves a million gold stars.

IMG_6127.JPG

Another huge part of my first year at Emerson was my soccer team and other athlete friends. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I don’t know how I would have survived without them. Moving across the country was much easier with the help of my teammates. I gained an automatic family who accepted me for who I am. They even put up with me when I said I was going to wear sports goggles during a game to protect my eyelash extensions. I loved my eyelash extensions so, so much and I would do anything to protect them I even bought the goggles on Amazon and everything, I was really going to wear them. Here’s proof.

I have met friends from California, New York, Vermont (Or is it Virginia Tray?), the Netherlands (I’m going to miss you so much, Joris), London (Yes, I’ll even miss the one and only David Kemp), Brazil… basically from all over the world. Which was absolutely CRAZY to me because I’m used to meeting people from other cities in Texas or in another county in Austin. One of my favorite aspects of meeting people from all over is that I have gotten to learn their mannerisms, cultures, personalities, and tendencies. Take my soccer team, for example, if you ask 5 different people to say “water” they will all pronounce it differently. I’ve heard “wuh-ter”, “wah-ter”, “woh-ter”… I’m not making this up. I didn’t realize how where you live can change the way you act, but it has taught me a lot about people and myself.IMG_6129.JPG

I also have been inspired by so many people encounter daily.  I am constantly surrounded by the most driven people I have ever met in my life who have accomplished so much already. I also was so blessed to have people around me that were so supportive of my dreams and encourage me every day. This year, I had the opportunity to do things that I never would have imagined that I would have been able to do in a million years. This year I got to act in a few of my friends’ films, which is something I have always secretly wanted to do. Not going to lie, I did try out for one of those Disney Channel auditions that they advertise on the radio when I was 12. Obviously, that did not work out, so getting to act in short films lived out my 12-year old self’s dreams. I recently got to work behind the scenes for a Netflix special and go backstage while it was being filmed at a nearby theater. I was sitting right next to Netflix executives..like WHAT. How crazy is that?  It was so hard to keep my cool but I think I was professional enough. I also still can’t believe the moment when I “bumped into Olivia Culpo in the bathroom” when I totally planned to run into her. My favorite memory of all was going to New York Fashion Week with my best friend Nick (who I could write a whole essay on about how much I love him). It was so cool to have the opportunity to live out my dreams, go to one of the fashion hubs, and get to meet so many amazing people. I actually am planning to go again in September!

IMG_6131.JPGOne thing I did think I would do differently was post more. I know it may not have looked like I was doing a lot but a lot of the work was behind the scenes. I have been working really hard to change my brand and take it to another level. That is one thing I love so much about Emerson, it didn’t even feel like school. I would be simultaneously taking notes for class and for my blog. I was even able to schedule meetings with my teachers and ask them for advice about my brand. I am sorry I haven’t done as much but I promise that a lot more is coming soon. But I did want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me. All of the random texts of encouragement, phone calls, and more have impacted me more than you know. I am so excited for where this crazy journey is going to take me and I can’t wait to share it with you all as I move from Austin to Boston again in August!

My First Red Sox Game!

I’m not going to lie, I barely know anything about baseball… I had to have quick 5-minute tutorial before the game and I bought a Red Sox hat the day of the game to hop on the bandwagon. Even though I have no interest in baseball whatsoever, I was so excited to go to my first Red Sox Game and finally wear my “Red Sox game outfit”.

IMG_4857.JPGThe game was against the Yankees and I was warned before about the rivalry but, I didn’t know how intense it was until I was sitting in my seats. We got seats in the bleachers (that were only $9 if you search student Red Sox tickets) and we were in the middle of a mix of Red Sox and Yankees fans, which was INSANE. When I say insane, I mean INSANE. I was even two rows away from an actual fist fight (if you have me on snapchat you can see it on my story). The fight was so intense that one dude threw another guy over a row of seats and kept repeatedly punching him until the police came to break up the fight. The fight was very entertaining, to be honest, but it was not so fun afterward. During the fight,  someone split their whole beer on my jeans, coat, and hat :’). To avoid becoming a human beer popsicle, my friend and I left.
IMG_4829.jpegOverall I definitely got the full experience of Fenway Park. I got to get popcorn, cotton candy, got to hear Bostonians and New Yorkers yell at each other (with crazy heavy accents), and I even got to see a fight. Now I can check this off my Boston bucket list! Next time, I am most definitely going to bring more layers and maybe even a parka so I can avoid another dry cleaning bill.

NYFW: Day 2

Day 2 of New York Fashion Week was the day I have been anticipating for weeks. Prior to NYFW, I was emailing fashion designers and bloggers to find events to attend. I eventually decided to take a chance and email Olivia Culpo’s manager among the many others I reached out to. I am so glad I took a leap of faith and reached out because she connected me to the Simply NYC event. This event was a fashion and beauty conference featuring speakers who are at the top of the industry. When they asked me to volunteer, I said yes without hesitation. The day started off by waking up at 5:30am to get to the event before 7:00. I don’t have any pictures of my outfit for that day because 1.We weren’t allowed to take pictures with the speakers (which was so hard) and 2. We were asked to wear all black. But don’t worry, I made sure to add my own personal touches, including my silk black joggers and gold studded steve madden mules. The day consisted of A LOT of lifting and cardio. In fact, I have been taking ibuprofen all day because I am so sore. The best way to describe my role for that day is to compare it to a church usher. I would stand in between the two panel rooms and help the speakers and guests with any questions they might have had and also make sure the doors didn’t slam and disrupt the panels.

I know it sounds rather boring but I assure you it was far from it. I was in the middle of all of the excitement and was able to listen in on all of the speakers and even got a chance to meet a few of them. You could even say I became friends with some of them! One of my favorite encounters was with Daniel Musto who is a Celebrity Stylist. I offered to take a picture for him and a fan which he was very appreciative of. He then just started spurring a conversation with me. As we continued to talk, he told me, “You’re so pretty you’re giving the Kardashian’s a run for their money and I know them”  and I just about DIED. In pure shock, I thanked him and added how one day I hope to be successful enough to work with him. After I recovered my ability to speak, of course. He then responded, “You can so work with me one day. Did you know Kelsea Ballerini waited in line for hours for the Lady Antebellum concert and now she’s opening for them.” Once again, I was in shock. To top it all off, I told him how I wished that I could take a picture with him, but instead he asked to take a picture with ME… so then it was technically allowed… right? So his photographer took a picture of us and he told me to DM him on Instagram. After our encounter, I would see him around and he would engage with me as if I were his friend. It was amazing.

These pictures are from the Instagram account @Simply

I also had the chance to meet Rachael Bozsik (CEO & Founder of The Brand Girls) and Tiffany Tolliver (Founder of The EmmaRose Agency) who are both experts in creating brands. It was incredible and inspiring to get an opportunity to speak with them about my blog and future goals. I will actually be in contact with Rachael again this week in Boston and I could not be more excited. I even got to meet the genius behind the Kardashian’s closets, CEO of LA Closet Design, Lisa Adams which was such a treat. My encounter with blogger Courtney Quinn began with her complimenting me on my eyelashes (which was awesome). I then reached out to her on Instagram and she has been generous enough to answer some of my questions. Throughout the event I also had the opportunity to briefly encounter people such as Vanessa Hudgens, Brittany Snow, and Catt Sadler.

By the end of the Simply NYC event, to say I was tired would be an understatement. But I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity and I am so glad I got to be a part of such an amazing conference.

IMG_1823

Following the long day at the conference, Nick and I headed directly to the Art Hearts Fashion Show. After two redbulls, a quick outfit change, and some much needed Chipotle, Nick and I were off the show. My outfit for the show was the outfit I had been anticipating the most. I wore a black off the shoulder Guess top, Forest green satin Nasty Gal pants, and Forever 21 plaid thigh high boots. I got many, “I love your pants or whatever those are” compliments that night. This was my first fashion show and I was so happy to live out my dream of attending a live show. The show consisted of three different designers: Charles & Ron, Fernando Alberto Atlier, and Domingo Zapata. The design features were absolutely beautiful and unlike anything I have ever seen. During the shows, Lily Humphrey from Gossip Girl made an appearance on the runway. The show was such an awesome experience and I hope to attend quite a few more shows next year.

I know I just wrote a novel, but this is the most excited I have ever been to write a blog post, so thank you for bearing with me. This day was unforgettable and still hasn’t completely sunk in. Through this life-changing and informational experience, I have discovered a new fire within me and I am ready to bring you guys new and exciting content. Thank you again for taking the time to read all about this experience and I can’t wait to continue sharing my blogging journey with you all.

-XO, Elise

I also wanted Nick to share a little bit about his experiences this weekend, so here is a special post from Nick Chambers-Salce. Also, here is his Instagram @nickchamberss. Follow him because he is AMAZING!

New York Fashion Week was, of course, exciting. It was new to me as I had always enjoyed fashion but never knew the opportunities that could be reached with it. Going in, I had no expectations, but a lot of apprehension. Although, day one cleared all of my anxiety and genuine fear as I briefly talked to Dahlia Razook. The communication was rather lighthearted and felt… natural. Followed by an amazing dinner and then a surreal party at the W for Sakura’s jewelry line, day one was crammed. Going to sleep that night was easy but waking up was not. Getting out of bed before the sun was up was less than ideal after a busy night, but volunteering at the Simply NYC event was dreamlike. Meeting with such powerful industry professionals was incredible. From influencers, to photographers and stylists, the event was unbelievable. I even had the opportunity to listen in on several speeches and meet the professionals, including Gabrielle Korn (Editor-in-Chief at Nylon Media) and Vanessa Hudgens. As the event came to a close I was beyond exhausted and ready to go home, but there is no better source of energy than pure adrenaline, as Elise and I began to make our way to the Art Hearts Fashion show. Three incredible designers shared with us their work, including an artist whose entire piece was dedicated to transgender and gay rights, which was absolutely inspiring and powerful.

Going to bed that night was a treat. Not just because of the exhaustion, but because I had learned so much and gained so many opportunities. Overall, New York Fashion Week was awe-inspiring. Being in the city, doing what you love with someone you love was a life-changing experience. One that I hope to do again.

NYFW: Day 1

Starting off the weekend with no sleep was probably not my greatest idea. But, I was so excited for today that I couldn’t sleep the night before. Being in the city has been everything I imagined and more. We started our day with a very aesthetically pleasing lunch at Rustic Table and then headed to Times Square.

IMG_1333.jpegIMG_1410-2.jpeg

Today my pants were a big hit. They got many compliments and somewhat on earth are you wearing” looks, but I didn’t mind because I was obsessed with my floral Nasty Gal pants.

IMG_1531.JPG2B5DF389-BC4D-42F3-A2A5-7A1225D41A70.JPG

After touring Times Square, we rested up to get ready for Dahlia Razook’s show at the Plaza. I personally was starstruck that I was in Eloise’s hotel. At the Dahlia Razzook Presentation, we saw dresses that were designed for Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and more. It was mind-blowing. We also got the chance to speak to the designers in the very intimate penthouse setting. Her attention to detail was incredible and it was awe inspiring to see couture dresses up so close.

IMG_1591.JPGIMG_1535.JPG

Next, we went to dinner at Sushi Yasuda. I am not very educated on sushi and Japanese cuisine but it was amazing. The restaurant had a very modern ambiance and delicious sushi and it was fun to step out of my comfort zone. After dinner, I finally got to meet Sakura in person after all of these months. Her Midori Linea Jewelry Showcase was at the W downtown. It was so fun to meet new people and see her amazing jewelry. In just one day, I’m ready to move here. The day was definitely a success and I cannot wait to share with you day two!

IMG_1599

P.S. I had to add that I devoured Carlos’ Bakery treats. Definitely lived up to my eight-year-old self’s expectations.

Find me in February…In New York City!

Find me in February…In New York City!

I am attending New York Fashion Week this February, and I’m still in disbelief!  When I first found out, I was in my school’s Dining Hall and in front of everyone and I could not stop bawling my eyes out for a good thirty minutes. In that moment, I did not care at all if I was making a fool of myself; one of my dreams, since I was a little girl, was coming true. It’s crazy to think that just last year I was working at Austin Fashion Week, and now I get to attend New York Fashion Week. God never fails to amaze me with all the blessings that He has given me and I am so thankful for this opportunity. I am also very thankful for my good friend Sakura, the creator of Midori Linea Jewelry, that has invited me to attend her event. I am so lucky to have a mentor like her that I can look up to and learn from. I cannot wait to share with you all my experiences that weekend and all of the amazing fashion I come across.

4 Tips Before You Decide to Cut Your Hair Short

IMG_0316I’m leaving 7 inches of my hair behind in 2017! I decided I couldn’t go any longer without cutting my hair short and I am so happy I made this decision. When I first cut my hair short five years ago, I will admit, it wasn’t with the best intention in mind (I did it because one of my boyfriends said I shouldn’t cut my hair short). That probably wasn’t the best motivation for a dramatic haircut…But anyways, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Although I love my new haircut, it does require a lot more work than longer hair.

I came up with four tips if you are considering cutting your hair short. Maybe you want a fresh start to the New Year, or maybe you’re just ready for a change.

“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life” – Coco Chanel

Here are some pros & cons and tips to consider before you take the leap to cut your hair short.

Pros & Cons:

Pros:

  • Trendy
  • Can make you look more mature
  • Easy to blow dry
  • Easy to straighten/curl
  • Change/fresh start
  • Donate hair (if your hair is long enough)

Cons:

  • Have to blow dry hair more regularly
  • No more top knots, ponytails, or any high updos
  • Have to style constantly
  • Regular haircuts to maintain the length

Tips:

  1. Make sure you are 100% committed to short hair because it will be awhile before you can have long hair again.
  2. Do your research! Google pictures of haircuts that you want & bring them to your hairdresser. For instance, at my last haircut, I asked her to give me a “Khloe Kardashian bob”.
  3. Test out what you would look like with short hair. Get an app or take a picture and create the illusion your hair is short. You don’t want to go into this commitment without having a general idea of what you’ll look like.
  4. Lastly, ask your hairdresser to cut your hair a little longer than you had originally planned so that they are able to go back and perfect your desired length. It’s better safe than sorry.

I hope these tips were helpful and hopefully gave you some closure on your haircut decision. I definitely encourage anyone who is constantly considering shorter hair to just go for it! You may be surprised how much you love having shorter hair!

Happy 2018! xoxo Elise
